Up To Wintery Snowdonia

I took a day trip to Snowdonia, North Wales and the National Trust area known as Glyderau (after the Welsh for 'heap of stones').

This spectacular area of Mountains and Lakes is just off the A5 road that passes through the heart of Snowdonia, so is very easily accessible, and the paths up to Llyn Idwal from Llyn Ogwen are very well maintained.

I used my Fuji X-T1 with two different lenses, the 10-24mm for wide shots of the whole scenery, and the 55-200mm for detailed close-ups of the distant rock faces.

I've divided the blog into three sections; black and white, views and details.

Brockholes Wildlife Trust site

I took advantage of a clear, crisp day and went to this wetland/wildlife centre near Preston today.

The calm lake gave me a chance for my favourite 'reflections' images, and using a 'long' lens gave me a chance to create some bokeh (aesthetic blur) shots too.

I'm no 'twitcher', but there were plenty more knowledgeable people happy to tell me the names of the birds I togged!

Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

More images from my visit to the Catholic Cathedral, less close-up detail, more use of the wide-angle lens, and different treatments of the same subject in some cases for variety.

These first 3 images of the same subject, although from different angles, use;

1) Standard Processing
2) 'Classic Chrome' Film Simulation
3) Black and White Film simulation

The following images show the amount of colour that washes over the interior of the Cathedral.

Outside the building, the large Stained Glass slabs give an idea of the colour that awaits inside.

Cathedral Colour

I took the train into Liverpool to spend 90 minutes wandering round the Catholic Cathedral looking for colourful images, as this building is always full of wonderful colour from the light streaming through the stained glass windows.

As well as taking plenty of 'standard' images, I concentrated on finding colourful details, and here are the results!

Fuji X-T1, 10-24mm Fuji lens.
