National Wildflower Centre, Liverpool

Josie and I visited the above, just off Jct 5 of the M62 outside Liverpool on a lovely sunny day.

Here is their webpage full of information:  http://www.nwc.org.uk/

Apparently, each year they don't know what the displays will produce, as there are so many varieties, that the displays differ enormously year on year.

This year there are hardly any Poppies or Corncockles, but plenty of Cowslips, so the fields are mainly yellow.

The Visitor Centre is a long, low Brutalist building, but the wildflowers brighten it considerably!

Strawberry Moon and Summer Solstice

I went up to Windy Arbour at the top of Winstanley for the best views of the Sunset and Moonrise.

Unfortunately there was cloud cover over the Sunset, but at its rising and for a short while after, the Strawberry Moon rose clear into the Eastern sky lit by the setting Solstice Sun.

Billinge Fields Sunset, Part Two

The fields at the top of Billinge proved an idea place to witness the setting Sun yet again (see previous blog), but this time the sky was cloudless, I had my camera on a tripod for steadier shots and I also had a zoom lens to get bigger Sun images!

It did not disappoint!!
