Trencherfield Mill Engine.

I had the privilege of being invited to photograph the still-working Mill Engine, which was installed by the firm of John and Edward Wood of Bolton in the cotton factory in 1907, using 2500 Horsepower to run the machines over 5 storeys.

It is maintained by Bill The Mill, a former Royal Navy Engineer who has operated the machinery for the past 10 years.

I took the wide-angle images using my Fuji X-H1 and Fuji 10-24mm lens mounted on a  3LeggedThing tripod and Formatt-Hitech filters for long exposures.

I used the same camera handheld with a Fuji 35mm lens for the detail images.

Misty Brockholes Morning

Josie and I went early to Brockholes near Preston and arrived to morning mist swirling off the River Ribble that winds round the site.
As the morning progressed the Spring Sun burned it off and left a clear and sunny day.

Boilton Woods had plenty of wildlife on show!

Wigan Flashes

We had a very sudden and thick snowfall followed by a very quick thaw, so off I went to Wigan Flashes at Poolstock before it all disappeared!
In some places, the snow made the still water look milky, and on Scotmans Flash, the gentle wave motion created ripples in the snow on the surface!

Snowy Media City

Josie and I visited Media City and the IWM North, mainly to see the new 'There But Not There' WW1 Installation, but unfortunately it wasn't there! (HaHa)

The day changed rapidly from bright Winter Sun to complete whiteout, so I grabbed what images I could without getting too much snow on the lens!

The whole area is a wonderful place for photography, so even in 'challenging' conditions, I loved it!!
