Liverpool

I spent a few hours wandering round a very grey and misty Liverpool today, and came up with a few reasonable shots.

Stained Glass Sentinels
Misty Autumn Crown. I used my 50mm prime on this, took two shots, one with the crown in focus and one with the leaves, then did a Focus Stack in Photoshop!

I'm sure the rules are black and white on this one, Sir

What do you mean, I'm the odd one out, Officer?
...and I'm telling you there are NO grey areas in the law!

Haigh Plantations

The Plantations around Haigh Hall are in full Autumn colour at the moment, so I went for a wander to capture the changing seasonal colours in the landscape.

Brockholes

Brockholes Nature Reserve is a Wetland and Wildlife Reserve near Preston, next to Jct 31 of the M6 alongside the River Ribble. It only opened 18 months ago. We visited today on a sunny Autumnal day.
The Summer birds have left and the Winter visitors haven't arrived yet, so it was very quiet, but peaceful and beautiful nontheless!

This month's Photo Contest at Brockholes is 'Fungi', so I was looking in particular for Mushrooms!!

Blue Sky Thinking

Experiment

This photo has featured previously on here as a Black and White image that was favourably reviewed, so I had a play around with it and came up with this....

Update

I'm sure everyone will agree that this Summer has been a washout, but I suppose that's no excuse really for a photographer. I should be out in all weathers, capturing landscapes and architecture in their different moods!!

I entered 25 photos into the Landscape Photographer Of The Year Competition run by Charlie Waite, but none were shortlisted. This was quite a disappointment at first, as I suppose every photographer thinks his pictures have merit, but having read other blogs on the subject, and seen other 'rejects', I'm less unhappy!!

Here are a few selected photos since my last post, just to prove I'm still trying!

This is a copy of theWigan Casino sign, now hanging in the Grand Arcade inWigan, on the site of the original Casino.

A view across Windermere towards the Langdales from Waterhead on a stormy day.

'Orange Wildflowers', used my fixed 50mm on F1.8 to get the Bokeh, really like the effect, posted to a Bokeh group on Flickr and got hits!!

Water reflections with added Photoshop blur for effect.

This is called 'Rusted and Rotted', you can create beauty from any old thing!

'Tacking Round The Buoy' at Scotmans Flash, I loved the reflection on this one! Thanks to the Horizon Policeman for his guidance!

Olympic Champion and Tour De France Winner Bradley Wiggins and Bernie Eisel passing through Billinge on the Tour of Britain.

Mark Cavendish, 'The Manx Missile', wearing his World Champion Road Race shirt

The rest of the Peloton.

A black and white study called 'Under The Pier' taken at Southport. I only had my Iphone, just goes to show, you should always have your camera with you! Mind you, it didn't turn out too bad...
