Today I wrapped up warm and took my Panasonic Lumix G1 out for a snowy walk.
Here are the results of my adventure up and down Pemberton Road, Winstanley.

St Thomas The Martyr Church, Upholland

While Josie was busy at her Book Group meeting this morning, I took the opportunity to visit this historic Church for some Winter photos.
I used my Panasonic Lumix G1 with both the 14-45mm and 45-175mm lenses as appropriate.
The history of this lovely Church is here;

This is the Grave of Nanny Lyon, daughter of George Lyon, who is also buried here. Who was he?

A very old building overlooking the graveyard. The plaque has the date 1633.

These two were watching me intently from another building overlooking the graveyard!

Douglas Valley Walk

On New Year's Day Josie and I went for a stroll through the River Douglas Valley from the town centre up to the Plantations entrance off Wigan Lane. The Environment Agency have recently built a new Flood Defence System to protect property downstream in the town from regular flood damage.

Flood Defence Markers. When the flow is shut, the markers disappear under the water that is held back.
